What I Would Tell My Younger Self

What I would tell my younger self.jpg

If I could tell my fourteen-year-old self anything…

I would tell her that just because other people are afraid of her darkness doesn’t mean that she has to be afraid of it, too.

I would tell her that she is both dark and intense and light and playful all at the same time and that those seemingly contradictory traits of hers are actually her greatest treasures – and I would tell her to not let anyone else tell her differently.

I would tell her, above all else, to trust herself. I would tell her that she is beautiful and wild and strong and powerful – way more so than she knows.

I would tell her that it’s okay to be different; to be strange. I would tell her to let herself merge with her fire and to not be afraid of it – I would tell her to hold it in her hands like a gift from the heavens and run with it. I would tell her to watch with marveling eyes as it lights up her entire world.
